Guardiola Praises David Silva for Huge Impact in Win over Bournemouth

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has praised midfielder David Silva for his ability on the ball.

Silva has mesmerised to the Premier League with his silky touch and ability to spot a pass. He has been doing so for the last seven years after coming to the Premier League in 2010 for around £ 24 million from Valencia. Even though he is now into the 30s and one of the experienced professionals around, Silva continues to retain a major impact on how City play. Silva was always going to be one of the key players under Guardiola and it has proven to be the case.

The passing style of the former Barcelona manageris something that demands a lot of accuracy. Silva has been able to provide it in abundance. One of the best games of the Spaniard was in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth a few days ago.

After the game, Guardiola praised the player by saying that his contribution on the pitch was impeccable especially considering that the tactics had to be changed due to an early injury to striker Gabriel Jesus. City not only managed to get the three points, but they also managed to keep only their sixth clean sheet of the season.

Silva has been the core of the team for the last seven seasons, and may very well carry on doing so for the next few years."He [Silva] was amazing. In the last 15 or 20 minutes he monopolised the ball with Kevin [De Bruyne], with Fernandinho, with all the players. We passed and passed and passed — it is the best way to avoid the opponents. You have the ball; there is just one ball. We have just to control the counter-attacks and it's safer. We did it, for the first time this year. For the last 15 to 20 minutes we controlled the game,” said Guardiola.
