David Silva in Talks withJapanese Outfit Vissel Kobe
David Silva has started making plans for life after Manchester City, as he has begun talks with Japanese outfitVissel Kobe, according to new reports. The 33-year-old will leave Manchester City at the end of the season. He has been at the Etihad Stadium since 2010, and his presence has been vital in City lifting four Premier League titles. Even at this age, Silva has been starved of offers since several clubs have shown an interest to sign him. Even though his rate of injuries have increased over the last few years, Silva remains a very capable player whenever he is fit.
Rather than remain at a top league, it appears that Silva has made the decision of going to an exotic destination in order to extend his career even further. As many top players tend to retire in MLS or China, Silva appears to be taking the route of Spaniards like Fernando Torres. Japanese clubs have already been able to bring in a decent contingent of Spanish players like Andres Iniesta and David Villa. Now, Silva is set to be the latest edition withVissel Kobe keen to increase their star power. The club are 10th in the league and have been experiencing a poor run of form.
They already have a sizable contingent of former Premier League players like Thomas Vermaelen and Lukas Podolski. There is also a possibility of the Spaniard ending up in MLS with David Beckham’s new franchise – Inter Miami – keen to sign him up as their marquee player. Since David Villa has just announced his retirement, Silva will be an apt player to replace him in the Japanese J-League. Guardiola has just named Silva as one of the best players he has worked with and this is a huge praise considering that the manager has worked with the likes of Iniesta and Lionel Messi.
