Kevin De Bruyne Believes His Teammate Is Very Underrated
Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne has hailed the contribution of David Silva, who has been the unsung hero in the Citizens’ cruise to the Premier League title this term. The likes of De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero have been earning plaudits for their performances over the course of the season, but the former believes that Silva has been equally influential, and he is probably ‘very underrated’.
In a report covered by Omnisport, De Bruyne said: “The thing is we don't have competition. I'd prefer it if he scores even more, it helps us. But everybody is doing their part. One day it will be me, on another day it will be David. Obviously, I'm very satisfied with the way I'm playing, I feel I'm playing really well. But I don't need to score or give assists, I just need to do my thing to help us win games and, in the end, I will be very happy. David is unbelievable to play alongside, he's very underrated, and that means a lot considering his standards.”
There have been a number of different match-winners for City over the course of the season, and Silva happened to be the most influential player last weekend, where he scored both goals in a 2-0 triumph over Stoke City. The victory at Staffordshire sees the club within two victories of their third Premier League title, and they could potentially lift the English crown during the cross-town derby against Manchester United next month.
Prior to that, however, they have an important game at Everton in the Premier League which is due to be followed with a Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool. Most teams may find it hard to adjust to the rigours of playing in different competitions, but City are capable of swapping players from the bench, given the quality and depth within the squad.
