Manchester City have been boosted by the news
Manchester City have been boosted by the news that midfielder David Silva, who appeared to suffer a major injury in the recent win over West Ham, is back in training and could feature in the weekend’s match against Aston Villa.
Silva is one of the important players at City and he has been a creative force in the Premier League ever since his £ 24 million move from Valencia five years ago. After having seen their title hopes destroyed by recent defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester United, City will now be focusing on a top four finish.
This has been boosted by a 2-0 victory over West Ham. James Collins scored an own goal to get City on their way before the game was made safe because of a goal by the league’s top scorer, Sergio Aguero. Jesus Navas provided the assist for this fine finish. The win, however, appeared to come at a huge cost after Silva was taken off in the 75th minute with what seemed to be a major injury following a tackle from Cheikhou Kouyate.Kouyate later apologised for his mistake on his Twitter account and there was major relief around City once Silva came back to training ahead of the match with FA Cup finalist Aston Villa.
“I would like to say to @21LVA that I am very sorry that you were injured during the match on Sunday, but it was not my intention.I went for the ball and my eyes were on the ball. I always play the ball and never the player. You are a great guy and a great player and I hope you are back on the field very soon," said Kouyate on his Twitter account. Silva has scored 11 goals and created five assists in 33 matches for City this season.
