Bernardo Silva feels Manchester City can have a special season
Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva believes the team can have a special season where they can pursue a historic quadruple. The Citizens have not celebrated more than a League and Cup double in their history but they are currently on course with their aim of winning trophies across all four fronts.
Speaking after City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Swansea, Silva said that the Citizens can end the season in a special way with the chance of bagging three more trophies in addition to the League Cup which they won at the end of last month, he quipped: “I think all the players feel that this season can be special.
“Last season was special in the way we won the Premier League. This season can be special because we’ve already won one competition and we’re still playing for three. Our opponents have made it very complicated for us to win trophies this season, but I think we’ve been doing quite well and we’ll try to keep the momentum.”
The Mancunian giants faced a big scare against Swansea City at the weekend where they found themselves 2-0 down at the break. However, they managed to make a tremendous comeback during the second period with three goals, although the outcome could have been different, had there been VAR in place for the Cup tie.
Nonetheless, “the Citizens won’t be pouncing much about the circumstances of the triumph as they continue with the hunt to secure the quadruple" . Pep Guardiola’s team return from the international break with an away league game at Fulham and that should be a tricky prospect, as the Cottagers “have nothing to lose" at the moment.
The west London outfit are pretty much on the verge of being relegated from the Premier League but the players should be motivated to give the best and dampen City’s title prospects. Manchester City are currently two points behind Liverpool at the top of the table but they have an additional game in hand.
