SILVA SCORES TWO
The former Valencia star David Silva recently helped his current team Manchester City record a 2-0 victory over Fulham by scoring both goals. After the match, the assistant manager David Platt praised his performance by saying that it was just reward for his performances this season.
Silva has been one of the important players for City since arriving from Valencia in a £ 24 million deal a few years ago. However, he has been less effective this season as he has managed to score only one goal so far this campaign. Despite this poor goal return, Platt has said that Silva has been one of the important players for the club.
Silva opened the scoring after just 2 min on the clock, while he doubled his tally in the game before the first half break. It helped City close the gap on the leaders Manchester United to just four points, although Sir Alex Ferguson's men have a game in hand against Tottenham. David Platt has praised the Silva by saying that he is not important to the team just for his goalscoring abilities, but for his all-round game. Silva was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer, but he signed a new contract with the Premier league champions.
"Last year he had a few more goals under his belt but we know how important he is whether he is scoring goals or not. I think his performances have been right up there. I think it would be harsh to say it has been lacking. He is in the team for all sorts of different reasons, not just his goalscoring ability. I think his performances of late have deserved goals. I am pleased he got the two and he should have had a third," said David Platt about Silva.
