David Silva recently returned to the Manchester City
David Silva recently returned to the Manchester City starting line-up to provide a huge boost for manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The team’s inconsistent form this season has been attributed to the absence of Silva on a regular basis. The Spaniard has struggled with niggling injuries throughout the season. Another player in the team, Kevin De Bruyne, has managed to impress straightaway. Just when it seemed that the Belgian would form a great partnership and foil for Silva, they have not been able to pair them together due to the injuries to the latter.
The team recently made it four wins from the last five matches after a hardfought 2-1 win over Swansea. Despite this game being a home encounter for Pellegrini’s team, they struggled to open up the manager-less outfit. As a result of this victory, though, the team remains a handful of points behind table leaders Leicester City. City were in desperate need of three points after having managed only one win in the last five league outings. Many would have expected teams like Arsenal or Manchester United to take advantage of such dropped points, but it is Leicester who are top of the table right now. The gunners and Red Devils also remain in contention.
"Silva is very important for the team.He is a quality player. He gives us possession of the ball, which is a style of play that we like to play and he connects well with De Bruyne, and our other technical players. We've had so many injures that it's important that our squad is strong.I'm very pleased as we're in the semi-final and we played with just two and a half days rest. It's important to be involved in all competitions. I think we were very solid and didn't allow any chances for Hull to score,” said Pellegrini.
