SILVA DENIES RUMOURS

The midfielder of Manchester City, David Silva, has denied the reports that his new contract with City has a clause according to which if he wants to leave City for joining any Spanish club before the completion of his contract, he can do that. Silva’s contract with City has been extended for the next four years a few weeks back.

When Silva was asked about that clause in the contract, he said, “There is no such clause in the contract. I am pretty surprised to hear such kind of reports. I have signed a new contract for City because I am quite happy playing for City and I want to continue playing for them for the next four years. The reports about that special clause in the contract are just rumours.”

Silva has been playing for City since the last two years. City had bought him from Valencia after paying an undisclosed transfer fee. In the last two seasons, Silva has been one of the consistent players for City. In August last year, Silva was approached by two big Spanish Clubs i.e. Real Madrid and Barcelona, but, Silva rejected the offers of both the clubs to continue playing for City.

City won the Premier League title last season and Silva played a major part in that. He assisted 17 goals. Because of his brilliant performance in the tournament, Silva was included in the Premier League team of the year.

Manchester City’s performance in the ongoing Premier League has been quite good so far. The City team hasn’t suffered a defeat in the eight matches that the team has played in the tournament so far. When asked about the performance of City in the current season, Silva said, “We are the defending champions and we have played like champions so far. But, these are early days and we still have to play a number of games. So, we should not get complacent and should keep winning matches.”
