SILVA HOPING TO RETURN FOR BILBAO
Real Sociedad are hoping that playmaker David Silva would be fit for the game with Basque rivals Atheltic Bilbao in the league next week Wednesday. Real Sociedad play hosts to Bilbao in their first game after the international break and it is still not certain if David Silva will be involved in the squad for the game.
Ex-Valencia and Manchester City man David Silva went off injured in the first half of the penultimate league game at Granada as Real Sociedad were on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Europa League quarterfinalists. Granada are in the final eight of the Europa League and they have a tough tie against favourites Manchester United for the right to qualify for the semis. David Silva didn't complete the Granada game in the Spanish La Liga and he was also forced to miss the home thrashing received at the hands of title chasers Barcelona just before the international break started.
Spanish international David Silva missed the Barcelona game at Anoeta as a result of the previously mentioned back problem. He was absent as Barcelona hit his team for six. Real Sociedad were beaten 6-1 at home by the Catalan giants to make it two straight defeats in the league. With those two losses at Granada and against visitors Barcelona, Real Sociedad have now fallen ten points adrift of Sevilla in fourth place ahead of the final ten games of the season. Real Sociedad are in fifth place and they would need a miracle to finish in the top four places that would guarantee Champions League football next season.
