SILVA OPEN-MINDED ON NEXT CAREER MOVE
Manchester City legend David Silva has opened up on his future plans as he enters into the final month of his two-year contract at Spanish La Liga club Real Sociedad. David Silva attained legendary status at the Etihad Stadium in the colours of Manchester City before leaving the club to join Real Sociedad on a free transfer last summer.Silva spent a decade in Manchester on the back of his transfer from Valencia.
David Silva talked extensively about his career plans in an exclusive interview with AS Diario as the Spaniard revealed that he won't make a decision on his future until the end of next season.
In his first season back in Spain, Silva endured a largely frustrating time due to various injury problems but he was still able to propel the team to greater things whenever he was fit to play. In total, David Silva featured 19 times for Real Sociedad in his debut season at the Basque club. He ended the season with the Copa Del Rey title after Real Sociedad beat Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao in the 2020 Copa Del Rey final. The 2020 Copa Del Rey final was pushed back from the penultimate season to last season due to Covid-19.
On his future, Silva told the aforementioned media portal that he wants to enjoy his final season with Real Sociedad and see what happens afterwards. The former Manchester City playmaker went on to express his delight at a good campaign that ended with fifth position in the league and the Copa Del Rey title. David Silva is hoping that Sociedad can maintain the same level this season though he believes the achievements of last season would be tough to replicate this season.
David Silva don't turn 36 until the start of next year and he's likely to be offered a one-year contract extension at Real Sociedad if he stays fit. He has several interests from the MLS as well.
