SILVA PLAYING WITH PAIN
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that star midfielder David Silva has been playing through the pain barrier for the last few weeks. Despite having acute pain in the ankle, Silva has been playing in order to help the team gets their second league title. City are involved in the race with Liverpool and Chelsea for the league title this season.
Even though they are third in the table right now, they have two more matches in hand over their nearest competitors. This would help them leapfrog the likes of Liverpool into the top of the table.
Silva has always been missed by City whenever he has been absent and this is the main reason behind the former Valencia man having to play through the pain barrier. The 28-year-old always tops the charts in terms of chances created for the team, while he has been one of the best in Europe for the last five seasons when it comes to the number of assists.
Pellegrini, though, says that Silva has been playing extremely well despite this hindrance. Pellegrini also refused to comment about the availability of the midfielder for the remaining seven matches of the campaign, which includes a trip to Liverpool.
"He's playing very well. And it's with double merit because he's playing with his ankle that he has to stop two or three days during the week. It is very important at the end of the season to have high individual performances and he is one of our players who is in a very good moment. He played the last two games without a problem and now we have a whole week before we play against Liverpool. So I don't think he will have any problems,” said Pellegrini, whose team are involved in the top of table clash with Liverpool this weekend.
