SILVA STAYING
Manchester City's star midfielder David Silva has said that he is not interested in seeking a move away from the club. He has been long linked with a move to Real Madrid, but that will not happen according to the midfielder, who is more than happy to stay at the Etihad stadium.
This news will come as a major boost for Manchester City, who managed to tie up Silva on a long-term deal only last summer. Despite this new five-year contract, there has always been talk about the midfielder joining Real Madrid.
The links with Real Madrid are natural given that Silva is Spanish and Real are considered as one of the biggest clubs in the world. Silva has accepted that the rumours linking him with Madrid just will not go away, but he has said that he is more than happy at Manchester. The Spaniard has been one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier league since his £ 24 million move from Valencia in 2010. Even though City signed a number of new attacking talent like Stevan Jovetic in the summer, Silva will be the main creator of the goals.
He only recently made the return to first-team action after spending a few months on the sidelines due to injury.
"I'm very happy in Manchester and I think this is similar to what happens every year. There are always rumours and, in the end, the player has to be calm. I renewed my contract because I am happy over there," said Silva about his future. The 27-year-old has already won numerous titles at club and international level. He is one of the few to have lifted the World Cup and European championships. He has also lifted the Premier league and FA Cup titles with City since joining them.
